This is me trying out the Graphire 4 my Sister-in-Law Mariella gave me. Sorry for the no update thing, but i have been on vacation in Texas… the motherland. My parents house does not have internet and the fact that I haven’t been back to my hometown in 10 years, my plans of updating while there fell through. Know this that I start to update soon. I may even start going out of my Tuesday and Thursday update days to “catch up.” I did find some things that I want to post that I drew about 14 years ago… I won’t post the crazy stuff I found. But I started getting a little comfortable with the tablet by the time i finished drawing this… just have to get used to it before. So I may be able to post some things this weekend just to get some stuff up. But I am still around and I have some really good news coming up around the corner… stay tuned.

The time of change is close at hand. There are going to be a lot of changes coming to Metal Jaw Comics. One important one is the acquiring of a host to make this a reader friendly experience and more of a website than just a glorified WordPress page. In February this site will be ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Just put a new tab up and there is actually something on there. I saw on Twitter a retweet of a comic called Spooky Doofus by Marc Lapierre and upon reading it I thought it was funny. He started up Spooky Doofus in October, the same month I started Z & G. With his character of Ed (a ghost) it was all there the makings of a little strip with Z & Ed… lol. Check out the strip and check out Spooky Doofus too.
I added some links to some of the webcomics I read, also to make for easier navigation through the Z&G comics, I added a link to the Z & G (Zombie & Ghost) Comic Archive. So until I can get an actual site up and running, this will have to do. That link will take you to just the comics so you can catch up if you’d like. Had some computer issues and I am going to have to post my comic later in the day, but it still will make it for a Tuesday post. Thanks for your continued support. Enjoy.
So it is almost the new year and I have to make sure that I keep the promises I made myself about this endeavor. In the new year, I plan on promoting my comic a little more ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I’d like to think that there has been an improvement on the end product that has been published here on Metal Jaw Comics, and I hope to see a lot more in the coming weeks. The comfortable feeling I get as I draw has put me a little at ease. Though I am still ,one day, going to get an actual artist to draw this thing, I like to think that ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I realized when I was looking over my post for the day that I haven’t written anything in awhile. Well here I am and wanted to put a few things out there. After fielding a few questions on the meaning of one of my strips and what not, I just want you all to know that I don’t expect everybody to “get” some of the jokes I run with. Heck, sometimes I don’t understand some of the jokes I write after the fact… So I can’t promise that every joke will be accepted as funny but I can promise you that over time, I am hoping to have the characters of Z & G be their own people. You know, something organic. As I write, I am getting to the point that once I have an idea, I will just know what they will say. They’ll become family soon enough. I am right now contemplating writing a blurb or two along with the comic to maybe clear up what I may have been thinking of when I came up with a strip. Just like for anyone who didn’t know what movie I was referring to on the Steve Martin homage… it was “The Jerk.” A small line in the movie but the turning point that Steve wanted to put across. I kinda wanted to do that to show a turning point and you can expect for something to come from the last panel mentioning the Worcestershire Brothers in the future. But for now, enjoy and don’t be afraid to leave comments or email with questions or comments.
Me and my family had a great time this weekend spending time together and getting to know our neighbors. But through the weekend I was able to do some reflecting. I took a look at my process for creating one of my strips. From beginning to end product. The plotting and sketching part are fine to me. Getting to the finished product is what’s getting me. I’ve never called myself a professional artist, but after finishing up this last strip for Tuesday, I realized that my presentation can be worked on. Now know that I am and always will be my worst critic. And with this, if I wasn’t, I would never have started this strip. My biggest problem I have is the consistancy of the characters. After finishing this last strip up, I saw there was none… at least with the Zombie… I can get away with the Ghost cause he is a ghost. I have looked up techniques and practices of other artists and what not, and I now have some tools to correct that. I am mainly writing this to let you all know that this will always be a work in progress and it will only get better, I promise. I also wanted to just thank everybody who has taken the time to check this site out and leave comments and reactions. It really helps. Thanks.
The excitement keeps piling on! Posting the second strip is nothing short of exhilarating. And though one day I would love to find a talented artist to draw, I am having fun being able to let people see these strips that some may find resembling cave drawings. As I look through the numerous web comics that I follow (Looking for Group, Penny Arcade, Ctrl-Alt-Del, to name a few) I look at their first couple of strips and see how there style and character progression have come into their own. And then I even see some web comics that are just stick figures and have posted more than 500 strips alone, so it can’t be that bad. So I have a feeling that there are one or two people out there that might get some of the jokes I tell. And if not… they can just email me and I’ll explain it to them. As for Thursday’s strip… it’s a zombie… fawning over a character who kills zombies… well to me that’s comedy.
